GLAUCOMA EXAMINATION

Glaucoma is a disease caused by the damage of retinal ganglion cells and the optic nerve. It results in vision loss and constriction of visual field. Although elderly people and those with high myopia are at higher risk, people of any age are susceptible to developing glaucoma. Early detection and treatment of this disease is important as it could slow down, and possibly prevent the condition from getting worse. Thus, regular check-ups are crucial. For the glaucoma suspects, appropriate referral will be given for treatment after confirmation of the diagnosis.

Glaucoma Examination covers:

  • Case History
  • Vision Acuity Assessment
  • Refractive Status (e.g. Myopia, Hyperopia or Astigmatism, Presbyopia)
  • Binocular Vision (e.g. Strabismus, Stereopsis)
  • Color Vision (e.g. Color Defect)
  • Intra-ocular Pressure
  • Assessment of Anterior Chamber and Angle
  • Visual Field Testing (Peripheral Vision Acuity & Visual Field Defect by Computerized Visual Field Analyzer)
  • Ocular Health (e.g. Dilated Fundus Examination for Retinal and Macular Assessment)
  • Fundus Photography
  • Diagnosis and Recommendation
