Will my son’s condition of anisometropia develop into amblyopia?
Two eyes have significant difference in the refractive powers, i.e. over 3.00 Dioptres, will naturally rely more on the eye with less refractive errors. The eye with higher prescription would have less neural connection with the brain. The brain may eventually suppress the ‘weak eye’, and such inhibition process may result in amblyopia (lazy eye).
